Attractions in Palian District,Trang

               Seashore of Palian District have the beauty  with the characteristics coast of the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean generally.

               Travel ; Use the route of Trang - Palian. (Highway 404) go 2 kilometers then turn right and follow the sign indicating about 22 kilometer will have the several tourist destinations to visit such as Mu Koh Phetra National Park , Koh Sukorn, etc.

               Mu Koh Phetra National Park (Phetra Islands National Park)

                Mu Koh Phetra National Park A National Park situated on the Strait of Malacca,Andaman Sea, Indian Ocean. Declared a national park on December 31, 2527(1984) south of the park, away from the border of Thailand - Malaysia 30 kilometers.

            Topography

              Most of the islands are steep limestone. There are little flat in the area of valley and the beach.Include more than 22 islands in the Andaman Sea. Lined scattered since La Ngu District,Thung Wa District,Satun Province at it until it stretch to Palian District,Trang Province.Covers an area of coastal and small islands. There are theMu Koh Phetra National Park 4 importance islands sorted from north to south. Such as Koh Lao Liang Nua (North Lao Liang Island),Koh Lao Liang Tai(South Lao Liang Island),Koh Beng(Beng Island),Koh Tak Bai(Tak Bai Island),Koh Kluey (Banana Island),Koh Tung Ku(Tung Ku Island),Koh Lama(Lama Island),Koh Bu Lon Khee Nok(Bu Lon Khee Nok Island),Koh Bu Lon Yai(Bu Lon Yai Island),Koh Bu Lon Mai Phai(Bu Lon Mai Phai Island),Koh Khao Yai(Khao Yai Island),Koh Lidee(Lidee Island). It has a total area of approximately 494.38 square  kilometers or 308,987 rais. As the water about 94.7 percent of the total area. Some areas barred of the park, such as Bo Jed Look Villages. and some areas, Government by the Navy for permission to use the area.

               Climate

              Mu Koh Phetra National Park located in the tropics.Characteristics similar weather all year round.The differences between the seasons are not pronounced.There is long rainy season that to be said the rain scattered throughout the year.But the rain really hard. Will go starting from May to October.The end of November to March, rainfall will decrease.For the summer will appear briefly in March to April. Which  the change periodic of monsoon season. From the northeast monsoon is the southwest monsoon.Section of the change the southwest monsoon into the northeast monsoon in October made  the climate of the region varies somewhat, but not obvious.

               Vegetation and wildlife

               Characteristics of naturally plant contains;

               Rainforest

               Which The general characteristics are the dense jungle. Both the large trees and ground flora.Found scattered throughout various islands. There are the major species. Include Hopea ferrea Laness(Takian Hin),Dipterocarpus alatus Roxb.(Yang),Diospyros toposia Ham.(Saodam),Cananga(Tabak),Mangifera caloneura Kurz(Mamaung Paa),Shorea white Meranti(Phayom),Jacaranda(Sritrang,Green ebony),Queen's flower(Inthanin,Queen’s crape myrtle,Pride of India),Tummy-wood(Kradon),Snowy Orchid Tree(Galaong),etc. And ground flora include Rattan(Wai),Fern,Moss,Ginger,Galange,Bamboo,etc.

                Beach Forest

               There are the beach appear only  on the plains along the gulf of the island. Which there is not a wide. The forest is generally sparse forest.Plants were found include Sheoak(Ironwood, Bull-oak and Beefwood),Alexandrian Laurel(Indian Laurel,Beautiful - leaf, Borneo mahogany),Sea Hibiscus(Beach Hibiscus,Coastal Hibiscus),Seaside Mahoe(Indian Tulip Tree, Pacific Rosewood),Sea almond(Tropical almond,Bengal almond,Indian almond,Beach almond),Cashew Nut Tree,Fish Poison Tree(Putat,Sea Poison Tree),etc.And ground flora were Screw Pine.

               Mangrove Forest

               Found in clay,seaside area and the mouth of the canal.Major plants including Rhizophora mucronata(Red Mangrove,Big leaves Mangrove),Rhizophora apiculata(Small leaves Mangrove),Tagal Mangrove,Xylocarpus granatum(Cannonball Mangrove),Bruguiera parviflora,Bruguiera cylindrica,etc.

                Because most parts of Phetra Islands National Park is an island with a small . A variety of animal species, so there is not much. Can be classified into;

               Mammals

              Viz Dugongs,Slow Loris,Dusky leaf Monkey,Mouse Deer,Wild Boar,Palm Civet,Giant Squirrel and various bat species ,etc.

               Birds

               Include Pacific Reef Egret,White-bellied Sea Eagle (White-breasted Sea Eagle),Brahminy kite(Red-backed sea-eagle),Crested Serpent Eagle,Nicobar Pigeon,Wreathed hornbill (Bar-pouched wreathed hornbill),Oriental pied hornbill,Great hornbill,Kingfisher(River Kingfisher),Common Iora,Asian Fairy Bluebird,Germain’s Swiftlet,Black-nest Swiftlet,Pacific Swallow,etc.

               Reptiles

               Include Reticulated Python(Regal Python),Bengal monitor,etc.

              In addition, in area of these islands. Also available  stunning underwater coral reefs and abundant with under the sea natural resources viz Marine Puffer Fish,Marlin(Spearfish,Sailfish,Billfish),Sea Eel,Mullet,Seaperch,Black pomfret,King mackerel(Spotted mackerel,Seerfish),Longtail tuna,Angelfish(Marine angelfish),Parrotfish,Barracuda(Seapike),Lionfish,Bannerfish(Pennanfish),Butterflyfish,Seahorse,Sea cucumber and Starfish(Seastar),etc.

                Mu Koh Phetra National Park (Phetra Islands National Park) is the whole point of beauty that nature has created. There are forests, mountains, wildlife and colorful coral.Location of the park office is a natural bay known as the "Aow Noon"(Noon Bay).

        Interest activities tourist include diving around Koh Lao Liang,Koh Takiang,Koh Phetra,Koh Talui Noi,Koh Talui Yai and Koh Talu.The most convenient way to travel. Rent a boat from Pak Bara Dock in Satun.Or to travel from Trang.
